Reply to this meme by yelling "Words!" and I will give you five words that remind me of you. Then post them in your LJ and explain what they mean to you.

Kowarth gave me singing, josh, ducks, uniform & spitfire.

Singing: Oh, where do I start? What does singing mean to me, I don't know thats a very trivial question isn't it. Singing makes me happy and when I am happy the world seems happier. I'm always singing, it's what people remember about me. I don't really know where this love comes from, though when I was younger I used to go to clubs and groups like the brownies, and hedgehogs that held stage shows. One of the earliest things I remember is me, about 8 years old on stage at the West Cliff Theatre in Clacton playing the lead in the musical Annie. I also make Paul's mum cry every time she listens to me singing lol though I hope that's a good thing.

Josh: Hehe I like this one. Josh Townsend, no no Joshua Richard Townsend is a character from the Sarah Jane audio books and I love him very much. He's absoloutly wonderful and has an amazing sense of humour. (He's also quite cute and I spoke to Jez who plays him on myspace.)

Josh is also the name of my laptop. Yes, I named my laptop when I first got it. I remember sitting out in the field by the pond, watching the geese in the water and talking to Paul about it. I was going to call it Josh or Nat, but Josh seemed he most appropriate. He died last year when I broke the hard drive and I lost him for about 5 months or more. But mum had him fixed for me for christmas (fixed lol sorry Josh) and now he is shiny and new! <3

Ducks: I love ducks. In fact I love most poultry and waterfowl, but I have a great love for ducks. I got my first duck about 4 years ago, his name was Dudley and he was an Aylesbury duck, which are my favourite breed. His sister sadly died a few weeks after we got them as ducklings, so he was my baby. He lived in my room for a few months and used to sleep on my bed with me. He loved being cuddled and used to sit on my shoulder when he was young. After him we got 4 more ducks, squeeker, titch, CJ and Anikin (yes I stupidly let my brothers name my ducks.) Sadly we lost Dudley, Titch, CJ and Anikin and was left with just Squeeker. She was lonely on her own when we moved so we gave her to a local farm.I now have 9 ducks, who are all Aylesburys and beautiful little things. 4 of them I named as they were older (Eddie, Patsy, Bubbles and Saphy - Ab fab) and I'm looking forward to when they're old enough to bet let out of the pen.

Uniform: Phwoar. Uniform is such a turn on isn't it? I know you secretly agree ;-)Well yes, I love uniforms. Not like school uniform, proper military, police or naval uniforms and find them very very smexy. Harry does it well enough for me lol. I love to dress up and uniforms are a naughty little secret of mine.. need I say more?

Spitfire: Aw this one's very cute. Sarah owns a spitfire broach that she wore in K9 and Co, as well as in most of the covers for the SJ audios and I think it's gorgeous. When Paul was away with Bekky he bought me a present, a little spitfire badge that I wear when I go out to remind me of him and Sarah. It's the cutest little thing and I get loads of people stop and tell me how nice it is all the time. I lost the back in college and I was so upset, but our lovely receptionist, Karen, had a spare back she gave me so it's all safe and sound.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ryntha_doghare gave me Sarah Jane, Annie, soulbonding, tea and old fashioned stuff

Sarah Jane:

Sarah's a very tricky one to explain as she means so many different things to me, as a character and as one of my best friends. I suppose I had best start with the fact that she only came in to my life a few years ago. After School Reunion in 2006 I found myself strangely drawn to her character. I was a Who newbie then and I didn't know anything about her but she was so wonderful that I did a lot of research on her and fell in love. She kept playing at the back of my mind but I never really payed her the attention she deserved.

As a character she's confident, sassy, compassionate and sexy - those things often draw me in to women and this particular woman hit all the right buttons. Of course it's older Sarah that I like the most because she's got experience on her back and she's learnt things the hard way, that's when she just clicked and suddenly she was there, house and all, all prickly, stuck up and stubborn.
It was an instant relationship between us and since then she's become one of the most important people in my life. She used to have this hard shell to her, she wouldn't let anyone get too close and I can't blame her because the things that have happened in her life is enough to make anyone snap. But gradually she opened up and in short, she's absoloutly wonderful.

I think that we have so much in common and sometimes I find myself wondering what Sarah would do in certain situations. She's cheeky though, she corrects my friends sometimes before I have time to think about what I'm saying. Shona used to hate it, I'd always tell her off about her grammar and correct her spelling in her work - but that's me too I suppose.

Annie:

Annie Cartwright, 1973, Life on Mars.

Annie's rather hard to talk about because she's just Annie in my mind. Again, like Sarah I was drawn to her for a number of reasons. I am a big life on mars fan, I think I watch it more than I watch Doctor who and Annie was such a strong female character, in fact she was the only strong female character in the series.
I love series 2 Annie, WDC, one of the first women detectives in the whole of the UK. She's bright, kind, loving, clever and quiet. Annie tends to keep her head down and get on with things which makes her special to me. She never lets anything phase her and when she sets out to do a job she'll cover every inch of it until she's certain it has been done properly.
I love her, that's all I'm going to say really.

Soulbonding:

The word doesn't really mean much to me. Soulbonds is such a funny word to use although they are part of my soul that's for sure. I'll never really understand it, all I know is that me and my girls have such strong relationships they're not just characters in my head, they're seperate people with seperate lives, feelings and relationships. I love them to the point that when something makes them unhappy, I'll cry with them. Or when they're in a good mood it makes me happy. We're one big family and that's all that matters.

Tea:
Ha! I love this one.
Tea is the center of my life. Without tea I don't think I would survive for very long. Tea can be drunk in any situation, any occasion. It makes me feel better when I've had a bad day, it helps me relax when I need to chill, it keeps my day bright when I go to turn the kettle on and most of all it gives me something to do. I suppose I have quite an addiction to it, it's my safe drug and breaks up my day in to manageable chunks.
Good old PG tips traditional English tea with two sugar and milk is my favourite, although I do enjoy a nice cup of Earl Grey and Peppermint every now and then.

Old fashioned stuff:
I am a great lover of all things old. I like things that have got history to them, or something with a story behind it whether it personal or keeping someone else's story alive.
I love the smell of old books when you open them, running your fingers down the spine and reading the yellowish stained pages. There's something truly magical about old books even if the book is of no interest to me.
I like old fashioned furniture, like large dark wooden vistorian dressing tables or writing desks. I simply adore that vintage look and feel it's very me.
Old fashioned clothes make me smile. There's something truly special about British history and people tend to forget the small things about it. People have always been a great love of mine and what people wear can tell so much about a person.
Old photographs are just wonderful. I used to collect these old victorian portrait post cards, I have boxes of them under my bed. I don't know the people in the photos but they're just so elegant and beautiful. Every time I look at an old photograph of someone I like to think about what that person might have been like, what their life was like and I come up with such interesting characters.

There had always been something that Sarah found infinitely fascinating about the stars, scattered across the sky like someone had spilt a pot of hundreds and thousands. They’d been around for millions of years and yet still they continued to watch from above, silently observing, keeping your deepest darkest secrets locked away safely.

As the Doctor leaned over the checked blanket spread out on the grass, he filled Sarah’s champagne glass and she let out a long wistful sigh.

He instantly noted this, took a sip from his own glass and shifted closer to her “penny for your thoughts?” he asked, watching her face as it seemed to glow in the moonlight and plunging his hand deep into his velvet frock coat in search of a penny.

Although Sarah had not spent that much time with this particular incarnation of the Doctor, she found herself strangely drawn to him. He had a passionate, enthusiastic and eccentric character with all the curiosity of a child and the heart of a lion. Sorry, hearts. He also seemed to be the most human and romantic of all of his incarnations that she had met, and encouraged those around him to seize life instead of withdrawing from it.

She stared at the liquid that now occupied her glass and wondered for a moment what it was exactly that was she thinking about? After her brief encounter with the newest, young and fit Doctor from which she had turned down an offer to travel again she found she was unable to refuse such an offer from this flamboyant character. In conclusion, she was now lying on the grass of an alien planet staring up at the foreign stars and sipping champagne with the Eighth Doctor.

“Oh, it’s nothing” she replied, trying to avoid his gaze which she knew was there as she could almost feel his eyes upon her.

He evidently didn’t like this answer, so he took her hand and placed a penny on her palm, letting his fingers linger over hers from a moment before taking them back and linking his hands together.

“Sarah Jane...” he began but was unable to continue as their conversation was interrupted by a loud howling that seemed to be too close for comfort.

Sarah’s head instantly perked up and she turned her eyes towards the dense forest just over the hill. Her heart began to pound in her chest, adrenaline rising and she found herself reaching out for the Doctor’s hand instinctively.

He of course gripped it and jumped to his feet, his own eyes now searching for whatever or whoever had let out that awful noise. At first he wanted to rush off and investigate, but as he turned his gaze back to Sarah the fear in her eyes made him change his mind.

“I think perhaps it’s time for us to leave” he said and she couldn’t agree more. She didn’t really fancy hanging around to find out what quite possibly might want to eat them alive.

------

The Tardis wasn’t too far away and after and short walk, or more of a trot, they found themselves back safely inside.  Sarah had to admit, if anything this Doctor did have taste and she admired this interior. It seemed a lot more homely, somewhat Victorian in its appearance and most definitely very British.

The Doctor straightened his cravat and poured some tea into two dainty little china cups. He didn’t seem too phased by the fact that there might be a savage beast stalking around the Tardis doors with the express intention of fashioning their insides, in fact, he didn’t seem bothered at all.

“What are you doing?” Sarah breathed and flopped down in to one of the armchairs near by.

“Making you tea” he replied and turned around to hand her one of the cups. His beaming smile sent shivers down her spine; could he be any more charming?

“Aren’t we leaving?”

“Who said anything about leaving? You haven’t seen the Vanollian waterfalls yet, or the crickley flower gardens.”

“But you said that it was time for us to leave?” Sarah frowned knowing full well she should never trust anything the Doctor said as truth.

“Ah, indeed I did. Leave, vacate the area, flee the vicinity, evacuate the…”

“Yes, I get it Doctor” Sarah cut him off; he could go on for hours like this if she allowed him to. “So we’re not leaving?”

“No.”

“And that thing out there?”

“What about it?”

This was going to be a long night.

------

Sarah awoke to the sound of humming from outside her bedroom door. It was a tune she did not recognise, she guessed it must be something the Doctor had picked up from another world. She lay there for a moment and listened as the humming faded and the Doctor disappeared down the corridor.

She glanced at her watch on the bedside cabinet and realised that there really wasn’t much point to this seemingly human gesture as they weren’t on Earth anymore. Still, the watch showed 7.26 so she might as well get up.

Her room always seemed to be just the right temperature for her and she wondered whether this was a coincidence, or whether the Tardis knew how she liked it. Then again she did not believe in coincidences so decided upon the latter of the two.

It didn’t take her long to get dressed; the only problem she had was taming her hair which insisted on flicking up in odd directions and refused to look at least a little tidy. She gave up.

The smell of bacon filled her nostrils as she ducked through the nearest door to find herself standing in a beautifully white clean kitchen. The Doctor was leant over one of the counters, serving the bacon on to 17th century style blue and white porcelain plates. Knowing the Doctor, they probably were 17th century plates.

“Bacon and eggs, sunny side up” he said and turned around to face her with another one of those charming smiles.

She burst out laughing and the Doctor’s expression changed to that of confusion, “what?” he puzzled and Sarah pointed to the white apron tied around his waist.

“Ah... well eat up, we’re going in to the village after breakfast.”

------

“Tell me again why we’re still here?” Sarah asked as they trotted across the countryside. The village was the opposite side of the forest Sarah had seen last night, passing round it made her heart flutter but she felt a little more comfortable in the daylight.

“We’re exploring Sarah, isn’t that what you used to do best?”

“I thought getting ourselves into trouble and being chased by living nightmares was more our thing?”

“Where’s your sense of adventure? And you call yourself a journalist!”

“I meant why do we have to explore here? I’m sure there are plenty of other places we could have gone.”

“Because I’ve heard they have this charming little shop that sells wonderful scones.”

“Scoh-nes”

“Scon-es.”

She knew full well that wasn’t the reason they were going in to the village, and she would hate to admit it but she was rather looking forward to meeting some of the planet’s residents.

The village wasn’t unlike one that you would find hidden away in a forgotten part of the English countryside, with its thatched roof cottages, dainty little rose gardens, old farm houses and local pub. Sarah wondered for a moment how many planets had pubs but that thought was disturbed by the sound of raised voices coming from a nearby cottage.

The Doctor turned his attention to this cottage and began striding toward it. Sarah wasn’t so sure they should get involved, but followed behind anyway in case he got himself in to trouble again, which he was more than likely to do. He was the Doctor after all; trouble seemed to follow him everywhere.

“I don’t like it Marley, goin’ against the church an’ all. You’ll have that thing on your back.”

“That thing is no more than a myth Helen, I aint goin’ to live in fear for the rest of my life. If it’s out there, I’m gonna find it you hear me? I’ll find it and bring back its head!”

“It’ll kill you! You know what happened to the others. Just forget about the stupid thing, come sit down and I’ll make your breakfast.”

The young man shook his head and slung a large brown sack over his shoulder; he shot a scolding look at the woman standing in the cottage doorway, who was shouting a range of protests at him and turned to leave. As he strode through the gates, he was met by the Doctor’s beaming smile.

“Good morning” the Doctor began and held his hand out to Marley, who looked somewhat bemused at the strange man standing in his way. “Sorry, haven’t introduced myself. I’m the Doctor, and this is my good friend Sarah Jane Smith” he motioned to Sarah standing patiently by his side. “We’re just visiting.”

“Marley Thomas. You don’t wanna be visiting here though; you’d do best to leave as soon as possible if you know what’s good for you. Bunch of bloody nutta’s this lot.”

“Hello Marley Thomas, that may well be but we’ve come a long way to visit. Say, you wouldn’t happen to know where we could stay the night?”

“You’ll want to see Mrs. Randalf, she runs the inn just over there” Marley motioned with his hand over towards the pub. “I warn you, they don’t like strangers. Suspicious lot all terrified of the wolf.”

“Wolf?” Sarah piped up from the Doctor’s side.

“Aye, the wolf miss. Protects the village you see, keeps people in. I don’t believe a word of it mind, off to find it myself.”

“What do you mean it keeps people in?” Sarah asked with that journalistic twinkle in her eye.

“Nobody ever leaves the village; those who try never come back, never found.”

“If they never come back, how do you know they haven’t just settled somewhere else? Since no one ever leaves?”

“Good question miss, exactly what I’m goin’ to find out.”

“Oh, jolly good I’ll accompany you!” the Doctor cut in, pushing his hands in to his pockets and smiling at Marley.

“Might be dangerous mind..”

“Good, good. Sarah you stay here, go and see Mrs. Randalf, book us a room and see what you can find out.”

“Doctor..”

“We won’t be long now, will we Marley?”

Today I did something good

Harry SJ

I have always thought about giving blood, but I've never really had the courage to actually go and do it because I don't really like needles. It's not the sight of them like it is for most people, it's the idea of them being pushed through my skin. So yesterday I just decided fuck it, I might as well do it because it might save someone's life.

Me, Jade, Lauren and Linsey went down there at 1 today determined we were going to do it. Unfortunately as we hadn't booked a session we were told to come back at 2. We sat in the Rochford campus canteen for the hour and when we returned the whole room was packed with people.
Lauren and Linsey said they would come back at another date, but me and Jade stayed. We filled out some forms, they took some of out details and we were all ready to go! Though we ended up sitting around until about 3.45 in the waiting room.

Finally we got in there and they had to do some tests first, ask some questions and talk to us about the whole experience. The pin prick in my finger really hurt, but I have lots of iron in my blood apparently because the drip went straight to the bottom of the test tube.
Anyway, by the time I got to the bed Jade was already half way through giving her blood and she seemed so relaxed. I was terrified, you have no idea how much my stomach was churning at the thought of having my blood sucked out.

It really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be to be honest, they had to check for my veign in my arm so had to apply lots of pressure, that made my eyes water. But the nurse said "you have a lovely big veign" which was cool but really didn't make me feel much better. Then she cleaned my arm, because you need to have it all sterilised as stuffs.  She strapped the tubey thing to my arm and then told me to relax and tense, which I did and then bang! the needle went in my arm. I winced a little, but it wasn't all bad. The only thing that I didn't like was that my hand got really tired and I had to keep tensing and relaxing it, which got really hard after the first 5 minutes.

Then it was done. I saw my pint of blood go in the box and get labelled up!! I gave blood :D and it felt really good.
They gave me biscuits and drinks so I could build up my strength again and then I went to catch the bus.
Only problem with it was that when I was half way home I suddenly got this really bad headache and felt really sick. My eyes couldn't focus and I felt dizzy like I was going to pass out. But my friends opened all the windows on the bus for me which helped, and Ruby kept talking to me so I could concentrate. Then I was fine :)

I do sometimes believe in Karma, and I must have had really good Karma from thish because there was an email from UCAS waiting for me when I got online. I've got an offer from Lincoln uni! The one I want to get in to and I am sooooo happy. So all in all it was quite a good day :D

Jeremy James

Harry SJ

Or Jez Fielding, which ever you choose to call him is bloody fantastic :)
Okay, here's the story. [info]kowarth being the internet genius he is managed to track down Jeremy James, after the years he has been missing from the Sarah Jane Smith audio books. He found out that Jeremy also acts under the name "Jez Fielding" and has been in several other audio books aside from the SJSA's. I've listened to a few of them already, again thanks to my wonderful internet genius and he is as marvellous as I first thought he was.
Sadly we haven't heard much from "Jez" lately, and so when Kowarth was browsing about the internet he found out that Jez has actually been touring with his band. Yes, the man who played Joshua Townsend is in a band and is quite good actually.
His album is called Gin Lane, and the band is called Indigo Down. This is very cool and I am simply in love with a few of his songs. (They are currently on my ipod for long bus journey's to college.)

After finding all of this out, Kowarth went in search for any more news of Jez and amazingly found him listed under his band name on myspace!!! I, being the internet freak I am just had to add him and sent him a particularly fangirlish email to which I am terribly ashamed of now and feel a bit stupid about. (I did assure him that I wasn't some internet stalker, just a fan.)
I never thought I would hear from him because I assumed that he would be too busy, and not want to talk to silly young girls like me. But yesterday evening, I logged in to myspace on the off chance and there waiting for me in my inbox was a reply!!!!

You have no idea how happy I was about this and spent at least half an hour squeeeing to Kowarth. Here was his reply:

Hi Kirsty,

How lovely to hear those kind words of encouragement! How on earth did you link the actor to the singer though? Most impressive! I take it from the fact that you list Lis as one of your heroes that you mean my performance as Josh in the Big Finish series? And who sent you the album? I'm perplexed but am not relegating you to the rank of 'stalker' just yet!
Hope you get into the uni you want. I (much like my character, Josh) read English at Glasgow. And I'd do it all again, it was bloody marvellous. Haven't seen Lis for ages but I know she's doing very well for herself since getting the tv gig. She's a great girl.
Take care.
Jez x

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

You agree with me, no?
How bloody fantastic is that? I'm so happy that he replied and even if he doesn't reply to me ever again, this is the most wonderful thing that has happened to me this month.
Just thought I would write this all down, and if you're reading this LOL feel free to tell me I'm an idiot :D

xxxxxx

Driving in my car *sings*

So, I had my first driving lesson today. I was terrified and couldn't sleep very well last night, I was worrying so much about it.
The guys name is Derek, he's very lovely but tends to talk a little bit too fast and I have to ask him to tell me the last part again lol. I paid him for 10 lessons now, so they are all booked and ready to go!
When I got in the car we went through the safety checks etc. he told me about how to use the CBA (clutch, break and accelerate) and we started with moving slowly down the road. Then I went through severel times how to stop and start again. I stalled the car the first time, but he said most people do. I turned some corners and then when we turned around to come back I started going in to second gear. This gear is a lot harder to use and the car doesn't stop as quickly as you want it to. We got up to third gear!! He said not many students get up to third gear on their first lesson unless they have already had lessons in a car. So that's something to be proud of.
I finished off outside my house again and my legs here shaking like mad!!
Now I am just calming down, going to have some lunch and go over Vikki's for the weekened which should be fun :D
